Cooking Beans from Scratch

Transcript:

Cooking with dried beans saves money and allows you to control the flavor and salt level in your finished beans.

Add dry beans to a pot along with water, and aromatics. Bring to a rolling boil for 10 minutes, then cover and simmer until tender. This may take up to an hour.

Make sure to season with salt and taste for doneness.

Strain the cooked beans, remove the aromatics, then spread onto a tray to speed the cooling process.

Cooked beans are now ready to be added to soups, salads, and other dishes. They can be stored in a covered container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
